People discuss my art & pretend to understand as if it were necessary to understand,
when it’s simply necessary to LOVE
— Claude Monet

I work from my home studio in Stockport close to the Peak Forest Canal. My inspiration comes from my Home town, buildings throughout the borough, the Canal Network, Nation Trust Houses and Gardens and the many beautiful places I have visited in the North West and Lake District.

In my work I use various mediums ;

Textured Pastel drawing for the warm reds of the local brick. The powdery strokes that can be blended to give the piece a soft hazy appearance.

I use water  colours to illuminate bright colour combinations in gardens, flowers and the country side. It allows me to combine detail with more flowing blurred brush strokes.

Pen and Ink drawings concentrate more on the tone of a subject, lines and squiggles representing texture highlights and shadows.

More recently the medium of Lino cutting has captured my imagination. The challenge of simplifying the subject, creating a more graphic image that is still recognizable is engrossing. The physicality of carving into a surface each cut or gouge that makes up the image, negative and positive space. The surprise when the reversed lino cut is printed and the final image seen for the first time
